The Buck Stops Here

The occupant of the Oval Office called a news conference with the Prime Minister of Turkey in the Rose Garden. As it rained on he and this prophetic representative of the latter days Middle East, the news media rained down questions about the many White House scandals. The 38 minute news conference showed just how the president intends to address the American people regarding the IRS, Benghazi, and Spygate scandals--pass the buck. He acts as if he knew nothing about anything and that his administration is just running along with specific individuals doing things wrong. He is the president, we have been reminded often, but he refuses to take responsibility for his Administration.

The first question was point black, can you assure the American people that nobody in the White House knew about the IRS’s targeting and harassment of the occupant’s opposition before April 22. He totally dodged the question saying that he did not know anything about the IG report before it had been leaked to the press. Just like he said about Benghazi, “we’re also going to make sure that we gather up the facts, and hold accountable and responsible anybody who was involved in this.” But like in Benghazi, the administration investigating the administration in this case has no merit except to allow the man who is elected to run the government excuses when he gets caught running it amiss.

Second question directed to the occupant was about comparing the current presidential scandals to the Nixon Administration.  He said that he is not going to comment on the Justice Department spying on Associated Press during the presidential campaign. He rambled on about national security and he said he “makes no apologies” for the wire taps against the news media. This president wants people to believe he is in charge of his government, yet he wants people to believe others are in charge of it when something corrupt happens--which is just about every day now. If he has the authority to immediately fire people who did wrong, then he also has the authority and understanding of what is going on. You cannot be in charge of something and pick and choose when you are not in charge. There must be accountability.

What is our proper response? Romans 12:21 says, “Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.” Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Philippians 2:12 says, “...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” In my opinion, doing nothing to stop evil is tantamount to approval. And there are many consequences. Jesus said in Matthew 7:22, 23, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” The buck stops here.

Have A Blessed And Powerful Day,
